Assignments:

complete overhaul of the festival’s existing WordPress website, optimizing it for search engines (SEO) & accessibility, and to upload the content & information in such a way so as to bring more visitors & visibility to the small town festival. establish certain social media profiles, create a brand kit for each year’s theme, managing/updating existing social profiles to create a cohesive brand across major social platforms, create social media calendar, craft & schedule social posts (& associated graphics as needed,) handling correspondences as received through our website & the various platforms. Pictures of the festival require photo editing work after the festival for future promotion and as social media content.

Approach:

Our social media approach for the festival had several prongs based on our targeted audiences. For our repeat attendees, we decided to lean heavily on their memories of past iterations of the festival with #ThrowbackDays using photos from prior years. To reach the new-to-the-area attendees & people in the area, we used targeted advertisements on Facebook & Instagram, narrowed to our location. The bargain hunters were drawn in by our social posts that emphasize the deals & #ShopSmall businesses that participate as vendors. By hyping up the information about the inflatable rides that we offered, an arts & crafts area, and more kid-friendly activities, we reached the much sought after demographic of families.

Promoting our car show event as well as our Rivah Run event was paramount so I created an Event on Facebook for both contests. Additionally, we shared all posts with relevant kayak/boat and car show groups and pages. Last but not least, we aimed to attract music lovers by promoting & providing local & regional musical guests on two stages. Some of our audiences were easier to reach than others, but our insights and festival attendance as well) confirmed that our overall marketing plan had been successful.

      Eastern Shore Mission of Mercy

      Summary:

This study focuses on the redesign of the Eastern Shore Mission of Mercy, a free, two-day, adult dental clinic engineered by volunteer dental professionals and a volunteer staff of several hundred people. This job called upon me to redesign the WIX website, run previously by a different webmaster, as well as reviving an inactive Facebook page (last updated in 2019; five years earlier) & crafting profiles on Instagram & Twitter. This project required the following expertise: website design, social media creation & management, and graphic design efforts to reengage & expand upon existing  online presence; allowing the Mission message and clinical information to spread throughout the local area, bringing in volunteers & patients alike.

      Business Background:

Eastern Shore Mission of Mercy (E.S.M.O.M.) is a free, two-day, adult dental clinic provided by volunteer dental professionals and a volunteer staff of several hundred people. All dental services were provided by licensed dentists and hygienists donated their services for this event. This year 1,100 patients were registered and a 970+ of patients served by 862 volunteers (both clinical and community volunteers.) For an event that was dormant for 5 years before this due to COVID-19, that is no small accomplishment.
